A warm welcome to Niccy Swann & Expressions of interest – 6 Week Foundation Vinyasa Yoga Course starting mid March

I hope you have had a great start to 2012 and are back in your yoga routine. With the new Thursday evening class you can now practice up to three times a week at Erskineville, and with the free online podcast you can also start working on building a regular home practice.

I will be away until 2nd March travelling and also teaching in Berlin, and have the pleasure to introduce Niccy Swann who will be covering all three classes in Erskineville in my absence. Not only is Niccy an experienced vinyasa teacher but is also a specialist in pre and post natal yoga, kids yoga and yoga therapy. Welcome Niccy !

New Cover Teacher Niccy Swann

Niccy has been practicing yoga for over 15 years, but only over the last several years has it become an integral part of her life, including the study for her Diploma in Yoga teaching, studying under Sindar Kaur and Mark Breadner at Nature Care College.

She loves the benefits of yoga and how yoga can be useful everyday. Practicing yoga has given Niccy a feeling of more time and less stress, despite increasing commitments with work and her 4 children! She is passionate about sharing the nurturing and balancing aspects of yoga with individuals of all abilities, including the important transition stages of pregnancy and the post natal period.

She has completed further training in Kids, pre natal and post natal yoga as well as yoga for addiction, increasing her skills to work with people in all stages of their life journey.

Particular emphasis is placed on working within the individual, encouraging people to be true to themselves within their practice, taking into account their physical, mental and emotional aspects that may change on a day to day basis.

She believes skills learnt in yoga enable individuals to use these skills in everyday life to aid navigation through the increasing complexities of life!

Expressions of interest – 6 Week Foundation Vinyasa Yoga Course starting mid March

Learn the foundations of a flowing (vinyasa) yoga practice.  Develop a safe, balanced yoga practice with emphasis on alignment, core awareness, breathing & relaxation techniques.

The response to the February Foundation Vinyasa Yoga Course was very positive, and I am looking at holding another course in March. Please contact me if you are interested in signing up for this course (I am currently evaluating two options, either Tuesday 7pm or Thursday 7pm). This course is ideal for both beginners and those who would like to deepen their practice.

Chris is back in Sydney and teaching at Yoga on Rochford

“Now the practice of yoga begins (Atha yoga anushasanam).” Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, 1.1

Yoga is in the here and now. The practice of yoga begins from the present moment, no matter the current state of your mind or physical body. Your mind may be calm, or may be busy and full of thoughts. Your body may be healthy, or you may be feeling weak and unprepared. Do not judge yourself, yoga is always ready for you !!

The best time to start your yoga practice is now !

Spring is here, and the summer holidays are only a few months away. What better time that now to start a regular yoga practice to calm the mind and open & strengthen the body before the holiday season.
